Cereal for dinner?
“They” want your kids hooked on sugar!
Who’s “they”?
The corporate food giants who only care about one thing…(And it ain’t your kids)
PROFITS.
I was watching one of my favorite podcasts the other day, PDP Podcast…
And this story pops up about the CEO of Kellog on CNBC…
“Stay fat and medicated, poor people”
Kellogg's is making a big marketing push to convince families that their sugar-laced cereals should now be a staple for dinner since food costs have risen.
I don’t personally know the CEO of Kellogs, maybe he’s a great guy…
But the push to drive profits on their stock while promoting to financially strapped families to eat a pound of sugar for both breakfast and dinner is…
WRONG!
I grew up in the 80’s and was raised on these cereals. I loved me some frosted flakes too.
But as I said in my last post, this ain’t 1985 anymore and we know better.
Did I survive? Sure. But perhaps not being raised on those foods would have helped me even more.
As a father equipped with the right knowledge and wisdom, I refuse to constantly feed my kid garbage.
I love him too much.
That doesn’t mean we can’t deviate once in a while.
However, when we go food shopping, it’s an investment in ourselves.
It’s a daily investment in your child.
They’re worth it. You’re worth it.
I feel the food bill just as much as the next person when we shop.
But I’d rather cut out cable, eat out a little less, or cut back on anything else that doesn’t pay the same dividends as feeding my kids the right foods for their nourishment.
That’s just a principle my wife and I have set in stone.
So sorry, Tony the Tiger, you ain’t welcome here.
At least I still have my He-Man and Hulk Hogan I can still share with my son 😉
In your corner,
Greg
